If you’re an avid follower of WhatsTheT.com you may have remembered us writing about a rumor that the Black Eyed Peas would be performing at this year’s Super Bowl in Dallas, TX on February 6th. Well the rumor is no more. Just moments ago, the NFL announced that the Black Eyed Peas will indeed be the Halftime Show headliner at Super Bowl 45.The past few years have been quite dull for the Super Bowl halftime show and Fox Sports Chief David Hill has acknowledged the lack of enthusiasm with past year’s performances. With 5 million albums sold worldwide and 21 million singles sold, 6 Grammy Wins, and a show line-up with nothing but energy, this year’s Super Bowl will not disappoint.

BEPs wil be releasing their sixth studio album “The Beginning” on November 30th. Check out their new video for their first single “The Time (Dirty Bit).

That’s the million dollar question at this moment. Somewhere in the Internet world, the rumor has spread that the electro Pop/Hip-Hop group Black Eyed Peas will be perform during the half-time performance of Super Bowl XLV which will be at the brand new and over-the-top Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.

With the rumor, comes the question whether the Black Eyed Peas are “Half Time Super Bowl”worthy or at least that’s the question The Washington Post proposes to their readers. And to that response and doing just a quick review of the BEPs album sales, “35 million albums worldwide and 21 million singles, and 56 million copies with both sales combined” and awards – “16 times Grammy nominated, 6 time Grammy Wins”, WHY THE HECK NOT?

Recognizing that the Super Bowl defitnitely has a very diverse audience and it is not easy meshing a 65 year old white man, a 35 year old Filipino lady, and a 18 year-old Hip Hop/Pop teenager together to find the perfect artist, there’s never going to be that perfect solution. I mean Michael Jackson is dead! By the way, we even still watched the dreadful half-time show last year in an effort to be open-minded about the situation!

Another reason why we think the Black Eyed Peas would be a great artist for the Super Bowl is because they are a group known for giving a full pledged production shpw filled with lights, flare, and a heath of energy (Football = Energy “Ive Got A Feeling”…, “Boom Boom Pow”… GET IT?). What better place to show off such a production than at the largest NFL stadium there is!!!

And while we all may be getting our hopes up and this all may be just a “rumor”, the buzz will only get bigger which will bring more attention to the fact that this NFL Super Bowl, whether its the BEPs or not, needs something different this year. At least we know Fox Sports Chief David Hill recognizes and agrees that it’s definitely time for some type of musical change come Super Bowl XLV.

So the New Orleans Saints are the Super Bowl Champions, but what about the Super Bowl commercials? How did they match up last night? Well we’ve picked our Top 3 commercials. Check them out and let us know which one was your favorite (not that it was that many good ones to chose from). And Dear BUDWEISER/BUD LIGHT…WE GET IT…YOU OWN THE SUPER BOWL…YOU ARE THE KING! (Sips on my Colt 45)!!!

AD #1: Doritos – Play Nice

In this ad, lil Jaylon has his bowl of Doritos out and his mother has company (a piece) that comes to visit. Kyle goes for Jaylon’s Doritos and well… the rest is history!

AD#2: Snickers – Betty White Commercial

The always funny “Golden Girls” Betty White starred in last nights Snickers Super Bowl Ad. The fellas are playing a friendly game of football until “Mike” (played by Betty) misses a catch and gets tackled! His teammates get on him and calls him Betty White and then the comedy begins!

Ad#3: GoDaddy- Lola

Ok, so we slipped this commercial in! It didn’t make the Super Bowl commercials last night because CBS rejected it. But it’s funny! The once football player “Larry Jones” is now retired and is now known as “Lola”. His big dreams of owning his own lingerie business has came true! WORK LOLA!!!

The New Orleans Saints win the 44th Super Bowl overtaking the Indianapolis Colts in a 31-17 victory in Miami’s Sun Life Stadium!!

If you were out in the streets of South Beach (Miami) this past weekend like I was, you might have felt like you were on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. In what has been a weekend packed with concerts, special events and parties, it all was just a precursor to tonight’s 44th Super Bowl game pinning the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts.

By halftime the game could have gone either way. It wasn’t until Saints cornerback Tracy Porter stepped in front of Peyton Manning’s pass intended for Reggie Wayne, intercepted it, and returned the pick 74 yards for a touchdown to give New Orleans a 31-17 lead with 3:12 minutes remaining in the game that it became pretty evident who would be victorious. The Colts were unable to come back in the final minutes, giving New Orleans its first ever Super Bowl championship in franchise history.

Kicking off the game between the Saints and Colts was Actress, Singer/Rapper Queen Latifah who sang “America the Beautiful.” American Idol winner and Country/Pop music superstar, Carrie Underwood sang the National Anthem. The halftime show featured English rock and Grammy Award winning band “The Who” whose song “My Generation” was recently selected for preservation in the U.S.’s National Registry.
