Now we know Mariah Carey is the Goddess of photoshopped album covers but Mariah and her team went into turbo mode this time around for her new Christmas album Merry Christmas II You which will be in stores Tuesday, November 2nd.

With recent pictures of her showing a “baby bump” and more confirmation from the weekend that she is indeed pregnant, I would have thought the graphic designer would have had some mercy and let the little light shine! In Mariah’s defense, the photo was taken earlier this year. Whats your thoughts? Was it turbo photoshop or just enough for you?

In other Mariah news, more evidence reveals that Mariah and Nick Cannon have a baby on the way. According to Fox News, one of Mariah’s very good friends was at a book signing at an upscale baby boutique in Los Angeles and had Dr. Jenn Berman sign her new book “SuperBaby: 12 Ways to Give Your Child a Head Start in The First Three Years” for Mariah.

It’s been quite some time since we’ve seen Mariah Carey perform live. Yesterday, Mariah broke that drought and performed in Brazil at a sold out concert of 50,000+ singing many of her endless hits. And while some of Mariah’s live performances in the past have been a hit or miss, last night’s performance validated that Mariah Carey still HAS IT!

Now we’ve had this conversation before but doesn’t it seem like these divas (exhibit 1, exhibit 2) sing much better live when they are pregnant? Not saying that mariah is pregnant, but everyone really wants to know what hell is going on under that t-shirt dress!

In other Mariah news, ENews reports that Mariah is in the running for being an American Idol judge for this upcoming season. In addition to that, Mariah is coming out with her second Christmas album in early November. Her last Christmas album, MERRY CHRISTMAS, sold over 12 million copies worldwide!!! Thing are looking real nice for Mrs. Carey-Cannon!

As previously reported, American Idol Judge Ellen Degeneres announced that she would not be returning to American Idol for a second season of judging citing the show did’nt fit her character. A few days later, it was believed that American Idol was close to signing and confirming actor/singer performer Jennifer Lopez as Ellen’s replacement but according to People that deal has come to a screeching hawk after Jennifer’s demands got out of hand. “Her demands got out of hand,” says the source. “Fox had just had enough.”

Alright Miss Jenny from the block! I love Jenn and all but Jennifer was not going to save American Idol rating in any kind of form or fashion!

Now someone who could definitely bring in some higher ratings for American Idol’s next season as a judge is Mariah Carey! In an interview with BET.com when asked about Mariah possibly being a canidate for judging American Idol, Nick Cannon replied:

THR: Has Mariah been approached to join the panel?

Cannon: You know what? She talks about it. She says, “I would love to do that.” She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don’t know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do “Idol.” Let’s start the campaign!

Even I would watch American Idol again if Mariah was added to the judge panel! What about you?

Here’s a hot new track from the singing diva Mariah Carey covering the 1970 country music ballad “Help Me Make It Through the Night” originally done by Kris Kristofferson. The song has been covered many time by other artists including Gladys Knight and the Pips.

Mariah’s version was originally suppose to be on the Tennessee soundtrack. Mariah is working on her 13th studio album and has reunited with producer Jermaine Dupri who will play a major role in the album production! the album should be out later this year.

Mariah Carey is hard at work finalizing “Angels Advocate,” the follow up album to her 2009 release “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” The album is said to include remixes of songs that were included on her previous release in addition to new songs.

Over the weekend, Mariah Carey performed  at the Pearl at the Palms in Las Vegas. During her performance, Mariah also played host to a surprise marriage proposal for Mathew Almeida from his fiance Maurie Sherman.

According to VegasBlogs, Maurie had spoken with Mariah’s management to arrange the stage proposal and did not know whether it was going to happen until 5 minutes before the show.

While it is not legal for gay couples to marry in Vegas, there is no law that does not say you can’t make a proposal in Vegas. The Couple will officially tie the knot in Toronto, Canada where gay marriage is legal.

How sweet! Let me get in contact with Mary J Blige for my proposal! Hmmmph…

“Betcha Gon Know” – Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey’s days of belting out high notes and powerful lyrics are here to stay.  This new album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” is set to hit stores Tuesday, September 29, 2009! This is going to have the kid’s #GoingOff!!!! #POW (Twitter reference! LOL)  With the exception of one, Carey wrote and produced the entire album in collaboration with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. “Each song is like an intimate conversation or entry in a private diary” says Carey.  It really shows that she has had major input in this album too.  As I was listening to the album more and more, each song had me gasping because her vocal ability is SIC-N-ING.  Even her recent live shows are getting better.  This self proclaimed “diva” is bringing it for those that doubted her and to once again prove that she is deserving of all she has garnered throughout the years.

Her arrangements on this album are STRAIGHT foolish and gave me the life I was in need of!  Carey’s vocals glide over the instrumentals as she sings every song with so much passion and dedication.   Instantly memorable melodies flow from track to track, while the lyrical content leaves you in awe and gagging!  Songs like “Betcha Gon Know”, “Impossible”, “It’s A Wrap” are my favorites and they GO OFF!!!

“Betcha Gon Know” tells a story of a hurt and surprised Carey finding out and dealing with her cheating man.  She then goes into intimate details of their conversation blow by blow and how she plays it off but all the while she’s saying to herself “Betcha gon know how this feels… even if it’s the last thing I ever do… to be continued”, #POW, she better go off on him!!!!

The song “Impossible” is like a freaky love song-letter to her lover.  Carey once again sings over the track so softly and smooth that it makes you melt into a musical coma of blissful harmony and love.  They tell a story of how her man makes her feel and how much she loves him.  She goes to say that “You did the impossible, you rescued my love. You did the impossible, see I had almost given up, and now I love you like summer time…”  Awww, it makes me think of dating someone new that sends you on a drug induced love high that you don’t want to come down from.  I guess Mr. Cannon was her inspiration when she wrote/co-wrote that song.

“It’s A Wrap” sets another tone for the album as it focuses more on a mature sound, something like the oldskool Motown genre.  The gagging part of the whole song to me was her telling her soon to be ex boo “See, I, know you seeing me calling and calling, I should crack you right in your forehead!”  #DEAD!  LOL Where did this angry Mariah come from?! But I love it and her!

The album in its entirety is very cohesive marginally due to it having a duo team of producers, The Dream and Tricky Stewart.  I love the fact that she put out a well rounded album that should be loved by older and younger listeners.  She pays homage to her throwback days but yet keeps it modern and up to date.  “Memoirs” showcased that her vocal ability isn’t lost and in fact she is capable of doing more.  Her new sound, vocal arrangements, textures, range, and trademark whistle register were all put into this album.
