alter

Multimedia mogul B. Scott hit the grounds running celebrating his Birthday about two weeks ago here in Atlanta, GA with appearances at several popular gay nightclubs, doing a few media interviews, and speaking as a guest panelist at Morehouse College first pride week sponsored by SafeSpace. In the midst of his busy schedule, B. Scott did a shoot with the popular celebrity photographer Derek Blanks at his studio. The alter ego theme was Prince/Vanity mocking the 1984 Rolling Stone magazine cover that featured Prince and his at the time girlfriend Vanity.

Check out the comparison above and tell us what you think. Did B. Scott nail it?

Pride Week at Morehouse w/ Special Guest B. Scott (Interview)

27181_1303514823256_1092030125_30798985_2920008_n

It was only this past fall Atlanta’s Morehouse College was in the media spotlight for their new and controversial dress code policy that detailed 11 expectations of the male students for dressing on campus. One of the most controversial rules was that “wearing of clothing usually worn by women (dresses, tops, tunics, purses, pumps, etc.) on the Morehouse campus or at college-sponsored events” were not permissible. Many gay advocates felt that the stipulation was targeting gays and that Morehouse was insensitive to their male gay students.

Fast forward five months and we now have Morehouse’s only LGBT organization, Morehouse Safe Space, hosting the college’s first P.R.I.D.E. week this week!  Tonight at 7pm, popular gay African American YouTuber and media mogul  B. Scott will be a special guest for an “Out & In the Spotlight” panel discussion along with an all-star cast of movers and shakers in the LGBT community. B. Scott first gained recognition from his blunt and open  Youtube videos discussing and encouraging those who were gay to be comfortable in their own skin.

The event is open to the public and will be at The African American Hall of Fame at Morehouse college. WhatsTheT will be on hand to cover the event and hope to see our readers and friends out tonight to support. Below is the official press release from Morehouse Safespace. Also after the jump check out B. Scott’s interview.

MULTIMEDIA MAVEN B. SCOTT TO SPEAK AT MOREHOUSE’S FIRST-EVER GAY PRIDE WEEK
B. Scott will be sitting on “Out & in the Spotlight” panel(Atlanta, GA, March 22, 2010)—March 23, 2010 marks Morehouse College’s first-ever Gay Pride Week. To commemorate this historic event, B. Scott, famous gay African-American TV/Radio personality and Internet sensation, will be speaking on Tuesday, March 23 on the “Out & in the Spotlight” panel.

WHAT: The “Out & in the Spotlight” panel is one part of the week long PRIDE WEEK, hosted by Safe Space, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organization that openly addresses the issues of homophobia, hegemonic dispositions, racism, sexism and gender construction. Scott will be discussing his experiences as being an out gay out man in the entertainment industry; the importance of loving and accepting oneself; and how being gender non-conforming—not adhering to society’s rules about dress and activities for people that are based on their sex—has shown the need to help expand society’s views of what being LGBT is in this country.

WHO: B. Scott is a TV/Radio personality and Internet sensation. Hundreds of thousands of viewers tune into his YouTube partner channel, www.youtube.com/lovebscott and log onto his website, lovebscott.com to hear his witty, fun and lively commentary on his personal experiences, current happenings and celebrity gossip and to see the latest episode of THE B. SCOTT SHOW. Bringing an infectious personality and outspoken nature, B. Scott has achieved much of his success by directly connecting with his love muffins (the name he uses for his fans) and his achievements have allowed him to gain interviews with celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Jordin Sparks, Nene Leakes, Ne-Yo and Ashanti. B. recently branched out into television, appearing on such shows as TV One Access Hollywood and Extra. For more information about B. Scott visit www.lovebscott.com.

WHERE: Morehouse’s African-American Hall of Fame (the upper level of The Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel on the Campus of Morehouse College); 830 Westview Dr Sw
Atlanta, Georgia 30314.

WHEN: 7:00-9:00pm (Eastern Standard Time); B Scott will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday for an interview with the press.

WHY: While LGBT people across the country are gaining more visibility, many African-American LGBT voices go unheard and their issues get ignored. Morehouse, one of our county’s most premiere historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), is dedicated to amplifying those voices in hopes for creating change and reducing homophobia on campus. Inviting B. Scott is one step in the right direction in Morehouse’s quest for affirming all of their LGBT students.

“I was honored when Morehouse College asked me to speak at their first Pride Week,“ said B. Scott. “It is encouraging that they have decided to acknowledge the LGBT community in a positive way on their campus, which is the first step in creating an environment of acceptance and equality.”

Check out this exclusive interview from Sweet Addictions TV with B. Scott. He reveals that he has a television show coming as well as a 1 hour show on XM Radio.

As if every weekend in Atlanta isn’t a busy and festive one, this weekend in Atlanta was extra busy with YouTube Celebrity and Media Mogul B. Scott in town celebrating his Birthday, Traxx & Traxx Girls temporarily moving to Club Miami on Fridays, WassupNATL opening a brand new Friday night spot and Grand Closing Vita, there’s no way you could say there was nothing to do!!!

The weekend kicked off full speed on Friday as Traxx Atlanta and Traxx Girls hosted their Friday night Live party at Club Miami with a performance by Gorilla Zoe and LoveBScott hosting the event.

B. Scott then took a trip over to the brand new Club ATL where WassupNATL had their Sneak Peak of their new Friday night home. The club is spacious and has a light system out of this world!

On Saturday night, everyone flocked to Vita for the last night of LIV Saturdays hosted by WassupNATL. Unfortunately, the owner of the restaurant/club has decided to go in a different direction and with his new business plans he’s decided not to continue being host of parties anymore. Needless to say, the night was bitter/sweet for everyone as Atlanta said farewell to one of the most Grown & Sexy Saturday night parties Atlanta has had for men in a long time! WassupNATL stated that they would be announcing future Saturday night plans and will continue to bring the 21 & up Atlanta men quality partys.

So thats just a quick round0up with the weekend happenings. Of course we will do it all over again next weekend! Look out for us in Miami for the Winter Music Conference… HOUSE MUSIC! HOUSE MUSIC! HOUSE MUSIC!

Video Of The Day: Steph Jones | “Little Drummer Boy”

stephdrums

Below is the description taken from Steph Jones’ YouTube page, where he goes into detail regarding the making of this video and the concept.

STEPH JONES, JORDIN SPARKS, AND B SCOTT on the front line!! I didnt make this song just for christmas. Its a song that I remade to show that when its your true calling you are to be the best you can in order to inspire others..which will bring people together. When me, Jordin Sparks and B Scott were marching with those drums I imagined us being on the frontline in a war and it was my way of saying that it doesn’t matter if you are man, women, gay or straight… We should all be able to come together and fight for a certain cause no matter who you are.. And once we trully figure that out then that’s when we grow as a people

I love Steph Jones for the simple fact that he is socially aware, creative, and INSANE! The video was shot by director Valerie Babayan under Happy Place Productions.
