WSB TV has just reported on Traxx owner Durand Robinson’s death. In the video report, they revealed there was some type of argument between Robinson and an individual, shots rang, and Durand was found dead at the scene with a shot to his chest in the middle of Hadlock Street in Southwest Atlanta. No motive or suspects hav been revealed by the Atlanta police as of yet.
WSB TV also spoke with Robinson’s business partner Phillip Boone and Boone explained, “This was devastating for our community and the Traxx family. He was an angel … we will miss him.”

I received this email from an email subscriber in reference to Durand’s death and I wanted to share it with my readers and friend because it speaks beyond recognition on the purpose of life and the purpose of death…
“Wow! That was sweet, but extremely sad. It touched me & I don’t even know him. That’s deep. God was ready for his angel to come home, too bad it had to be in such a tragic way. It’s funny you know, when you talk carelessly to friends and lovers about how one day you see yourself dying & how you want to die. Truth of the matter is, we never know how we will go. What God’s plan and message is. We all are pawns. Placed ever so carefully and strategically. We are here to touch and be touched. Someone needed a learning lesson. It hurts to know that it had to be at a great mortal’s expense. Death is something that goes far beyond our fantasy and imagination. Find your real purpose and do as much as you can, because the dash is way too short. Love people. And accept love. The world is truly full of surprises. Don’t dare allow death to ever be in vein. Take something powerful away from the fearless solider.” – leidyelle
RE: I woke up this morning around 10am and was greeted with something I would never expect from a Facebook message, a message that said that a loving good friend of mines, Durand Robinson, was carjacked and murdered early this morning. Durand Robinson is one the founding members of Traxx Atlanta. When I moved to Atlanta, one of the first person’s from the Traxx family to greet me with opening hands and a smile was Durand! ALWAYS WITH A SMILE ON HIS FACE AND A YES ATTITUDE, there are not enough words that could relay what kind of man Durand was. Durand you will truly be missed and never forgotten. This upcoming Pride, Durand would have been celebrating another Birthday. While Durand is not here physically, his spirit will always remain with us and we will do what he would want us to do, CELEBRATE LOVE & LIFE!!! To the Traxx family, I love you and my prayer and thoughts are with you! – TRON

Dear Friends and Colleagues:
It is with great sadness that we report the tragic death of our dear friend and brother, Durand Robinson of Traxx Atlanta.
Durand was the victim of a car jacking this morning and was killed.
Durand was a loving and humble person that always sought common ground regardless of the situation. For those of us that knew Durand, this is a very difficult pill to swallow.
We in Atlanta mourn his death and request your prayers and thoughts for his family and the management and staff of Traxx Atlanta.
“I love people and like making people happy. ‘Treat people the way that you would like to be treated.’ I love peace. ‘No drama, please.’ the children are our future.”Quote From Durand Robinson

As reported by LOLDarian, Karen Clark Sheard was scheduled to perform today in Washington, DC at the National Organization Marriage (NOM) tour for the grand finale of the march against gay marriage but it looks like Karen had a change of heart or maybe a “schedule conflict” (a term overused in the music industry). No official word was given from NOM or by Karen’s PR on why she did not perform.
Fourteen year married gospel recording artist couple Deitrick and Damita Haddon took up Karen’s slack at the event and performed proclaiming sacred marriage for a man and woman. During their performance of ”I Gotta A Praise”, Deitrick shouted to the crowd to grab someone of the opposite sex and do the praise dance with him and his wife. Watch below.
Prop 8 was overturned on August 4th by District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walke with a temporary stay to allow suspension of the ruling pending appeal. On August 12th, Judge Walker allow announced his decision to lift the stay as of August 18th. Gay couples in California will be allowed to marry again come August 18th.
Today Judge Vaughn Walker issued a decision that denied an extension on the stay of gay marriages. Beginning, August 18th, gay couples in the state of CA will be able to marry again! Check out this excerpt from CNN.com:
A federal judge ruled on Thursday to allow same-sex couples to marry in California, starting on August 18, handing another victory to supporters of gay rights in a case that both sides have said is likely to end up in the U.S. Supreme Court.Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker in San Francisco struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage last week, ruling that voter-approved Proposition 8 violates the U.S. Constitution. Walker had issued a temporary stay on his decision, which on Thursday he said he would lift.
Earlier tonight, NBC reported that a fan wearing a Lebron James Miami Heat jersey was escorted out of the Cleveland Indians game after being harassed by angry fans. The bigger question that’s left was he escorted out because he felt threatened or because they just didn’t like the fact that he had the jersey on… Just maybe if these Cleveland fans channeled their energy to their city officials on why they are in the predicament they are in economically they could get a lot more accomplished in Cleveland. I mean really! Get a life Cleveland!
Can you imagine the ignorance that will come when the HEAT and CAVs meet up in Cleveland?
This past weekend, WhatsTheT had the great opportunity of kicking it with the hilarious Drama Dupree and Notorious Sir Daniels at The Evolution Center in Atlanta, GA to celebrate their 50th online Better Days Radio show episode. A 1.5 hour weekly show, Better Days Radio is the leading online radio show that covers news, entertainment, gossip, and discuses topics that affect the under-served same gender loving community. The Evolution Center invited Better Days Radio to their center to record their show live with an audience on this past Saturday (07/24). The Evolution Center is a non profit organization for young gay or same gender loving (SGL) black men ages 16-28. The Evolution Center’s primary purpose is to offer a safe space and programs that serve as an investment in the individual by addressing the needs of young gay/same gender loving black men in Atlanta.
The show was very interactive and the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. Check out a few pictures from the event below and a video snippet. You can listen to the show weekly at www.BetterDaysRadio.com. You can also take Better Days Radio with you on the go by downloading their episodes on I-tunes.
Don’t ask me why but I have never been a Facebook head. Twitter has always been my social network of choice (well at least after MySpace died). Sometime last year though I did give in and decided to join Facebook to connect with some of my friends and associates that don’t use twitter. I’ve even tried recently to use the social site more to communicate and interact; although, it annoys the hell out of me when I get a request from my dad, a cousin, or any of my family members! Like…how did you find me! ugh!.
Despite my non appeal for Facebook, there are millions of Facebook members that love and use the site daily. Because of its popularity, it looks like Hollywood believes they can capitalize on a movie about Facebook. Lawsuits, hot college chicks, betrayal, and the movie tagline “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies” actually may WILL make this movie a HUGE hit in the theatres come October 1st. Oh and did I mention Justin Timberlake co-stars as Sean Parker, the Napstar co-founder and Facebook founding President.
We’ve definitely had our days of “WTF…is everbody against us!”, but today is not one of those days! In DC, the D.C. Court of Appeals upheld the District’s same-sex marriage law, ruling in a 5-4 decision that marriage equality opponents cannot put the issue on the ballot - which ballot. In response to today’s court victory, Sharon J. Lettman, Executive Director of the National Black Justice Coalition, released the following statement:
“The long and arduous road to marriage equality in the District culminated with a decided win at the D.C. Court of Appeals today. This is an incredible victory over a dogged, overzealous, and well-funded anti-gay opposition. This ruling comes after many years of hard work by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activists, allies and legislators who sought the family protections that marriage confers for their loved ones. Today, we can truly celebrate the unchallenged joy and happiness of the thousands of couples who will flock to Washington, D.C. to marry.”
And in Argentina yesterday, Salon.com reports that the Senate approved a bill to recognize same sex marriage making Argentina the first country in Latin America to recognize full-fledged same-sex marriages.
