Fresh from the popular VEVO artist video network, Mary J Blige has released her new video to her current single “Why” featuring Rick Ross. The video is a pretty basic  R&B video and Mary is looking AMAZING as usual from head to toe.

From her latest album “MY LIFE II” here’s a sneak peek of Mary’s latest single “Why” featuring the BOSS, Rick Ross. This is definitely one of Mary’s radio friendly tracks and the Urban stations should EAT IT UP!

Over the weekend, the 138th annual Kentucky Derby took place in Louisville, KY. The Queen of Hip-Hop & R&B Mary J Blige took to the stage to sing the National Anthem to a record breaking 165,000 Derby attendees. Back in March, Blige performed the anthem at the NBA All-Star game and was criticized harshly by blogs and  music critics for what some considered a very pitchy performance but this time around, Mary J Blige totally slaaaaayed (in a good way) the anthem!!!

Fresh off the heels of his racy “If this Pu$$y Could Talk” video , the dynamic and illustrative Ken Dahl the Artist is back on the scene with a brand new video for a his new single “Machine”. This time more mellow, and sultry, Ken Dahl enlisted America’s Next Top Model first transgender model Isis King along with some other familar faces including porn-stars Angyl and Hot Rod, as well as calendar model Deandre.

Last night, the poptress, Rihanna, was special guest on Saturday Night Live. For her first set, Riri performed a medly of her radio hit “Cake” and “Talk That Talk”. Between the reverb effects the sound men were giving and Rihanna vocals, my ears didn’t HAVE A CHANCE! BUT, Rihanna did redeem herself second go round when she performed her newest single “Where Have You Been”.

Last week, Brandy released her hot new single “Put it Down”, produced by Chris Brown and Sean Garrett. While a few felt it was too bubblegum for Brandy, the majority believe Brandy is back in a big way!

Brandy was in Atlanta over the weekend and did a club blitz on Friday night hosting a party at Primal Nightclub and then journeying over to the famed Friday night  hot spot for the kids, Club Rain. Packed to capacity, the kids got a little overly excited making Brandy have to cut her visit short after a few knuckleheads fought.

Brandy tweeted the next day about the chaos and how overwhelmed she was of the support from everyone.

After teasing her fans for a week long, Pop Star Rihanna Brown has finally released the video to her new high energy tribal dance single “Where Have You Been” and we can say the tease lives up to the hype!

Directed by Dave Meyers who also directed award winning videos for Missy Elliott (“Work It” and “Ching-a-Ling” and Katy Perry (“FireWorks”), just to name a few, Rihanna is actually dancing her Barbadian ass off in this video! I can definitely see this video getting a MTV VMA nod!

Monica and Brandy took to the Good Morning America (GMA) summer concert series stage performing the single “It All Belongs to Me” as Monica promoted her new album “New Life” which hit store shelves and iTunes today. As always, the two looked and sounded great.

Monica was also on Andy Cohen’s “Watch What Happens Live” last night and like the soldier she is, Andy could not get her to stutter or stumble on any of his witty questions or games. It was a hoot to see Andy even try to catch Monica off guard with anything. When asked would she be a cast member of RHOA, Monica replied, “THEY WOULDN’T want me There!!!!”.

There’s been a raging three-some storming the Twitter and Tumblr feeds lately as well as the streets of ATL. Their name? The Yes Ma’ams! Reminisce of a modern day Vanity 6, the trio (Privacy, Secret, & Slander) have been delivering fresh new music weekly.

“Taste Test” is a free album download the Yes Ma’ams released yesterday on their official site doing just what the title says, giving listeners a “taste test” of who they are and what to expect. As our sister site DramaDupree puts it so well, their marketing and viral campaign have been witty and genius!

I am in completely in love with “Light Up the Night” which is track 11 on the album. It’s a feel good, groove with it type record and anyone that knows me, knows I’m all about the moment and enjoying it! Makes you want to grab your Good Judys, get in a drop top, and ride out all night til sunset. A few other tracks that stand out include “Firestarter” (which has a sickening beat), Vanessa (a song named after the girl’s best friend-dildo), and Got a Problem.

By now if you are a part of any of the popular social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr, you’ve probably seen the now infamous Mary J Blige Burger King ad as she wailed the lyrics ““Crispy chicken, fresh lettuce, three cheeses, ranch dressing wrapped up in a tasty, flour tortilla” , singing about the new crispy chicken wrap. After a herd of complaints from fans and ordinary people rolled in from twitter and YouTube , Burger King quickly took the video down and Mary later released a statement that the end product of the commercial was not what she had expected. Some even went as far to say that the commerical was racial and stereotypical of a black person. But nevertheless that’s not what I’m here to disccuss.

The topic at hand is how big and powerful social networking and communication has become. Some people and companies have surprisingly still yet to catch on but if you ever needed an example, this MJB BK commercial should definitely resonate with the non believers. SOCIAL NETWORKING IS BIG! The BK video was taken down with-in a few hours after being posted, but by that time, the video had been snatched by other users, downloaded, remixed, screenshot, audio recorded, retweeted, tumbled , and dispersed to millions with out EVER making it to a television set!

I never felt the commercial was racial but as a fan and a person that loves to critique marketing, the transition to Mary standing on a table screaming “Whats in a chicken wrap?!” and then singing about the ingredients, honestly threw me for a loop. It was randomness. But now with the help of the social networking world, the commercial has become a phenomenon! Now I go back and look at the video and lmao! It has become one of the catchiest and most memorable  commercial jingles in a very long time! Mary’s made her $2 mill, and Burger King has made their $2 million back from Mary all through a little old 8 letter service called the Internet!
