
This past weekend, Patrik-Ian Polk’s THE SKINNY premiered in Washington, DC and Atlanta, GA. The tale of a group of four young, black, gay men (Magnus, Sebastian, Kyle, Joey) and their lesbian best friend (Langston) who meet up in New York City one year after their graduation from Brown University, began its tour around the country on April 6th with exclusive one-week engagements in Washington D. C. and Atlanta, GA.
Yesterday, it was revealed that the movie scored the third highest per screen average at the box office this weekend with a per screen average of $10,579, besting even “Titanic”‘s $6,000 per screen average.
THE SKINNY, which Polk is distributing via his own TSBB Releasing imprint, will continue its run in Atlanta (Midtown Art Cinema 931 Monroe Drive, Atlanta, GA 30308) through Thursday, April 12th, and in Washington D. C. (E Street Cinema 555 11th Street NW, Washington DC 20004) where it’s being held over for a 2nd week, through April 19th. Next up for THE SKINNY is a screening at the Crossroads Film Festival on April 13th in Jackson, MS. The film continues its limited run of one-week engagements on April 20th at Landmark’s Dallas theatre, The Magnolia, and April 27th in San Francisco (Embarcadero Center Cinema), Oakland (Piedmont Theatre) and Chicago (Century Centre Cinema). The movie opens May 4th in Boston, Detroit & Philadelphia, and May 11th in Los Angeles and New York City.
