Last week, we posted the new video for RuPaul featuring Big Freedia “Peanut Butter” track. You can check it out HERE. After posting it, we got a few tweets and facebook messages asking just what was Bounce music and who was this Big Freedia “The Diva” character.
Big Freedia is an artist born and raised in New Orleans known for her Bounce Music performances and music . Many of you (especially my Gays and New Orleans people) know what Bounce music is and how it sounds but many of you may not. It has been an underground type of music for a while now but with-in the past couple of years, the Bounce Music genre has gained more spotlight being highlighted at music festivals like SXSW, featured in the HBO T.V. Drama Tremé, and most recently making artists like Beyoncé bounce to the energetic music.
Big Freedia recently did a documentary in conjunction with PitchFork TV about her life and the history of Bounce music. Check out the documentary below.
