In a business where its become harder and harder to break new talent, every once and a while we do get a glimpse of Who’s NEXT. After listening to some songs, watching some youtube videos and reading up on her background, I think Joya Bravo is that Artist!
Singer/Songwriter/Rapper/Violinist Joya Bravo is a native of Queens, NY but was raised by her two Jamaican parents in Atlanta, GA. At just 23 years old, Bravo is an accomplished Violinist having played in the Metropolitan Atlanta Youth Symphony Orchestra and has made an appearance alongside Grammy Award winning group The Roots at the Highline Ballroom.
Currently, Joya can be seen in the new McDonalds “Dollar Van Demos” commercials promoting their new breakfast menu (performing a song she helped Co-Produce).
If you are on the hunt for an eclectic artist, keep tabs on this one as she sites Grace Jones, Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Radiohead, Sarah Brightman, Bob Marley and many others as musical influences. *thinks about what this could mean* A fierce Grace Jones visual, the emotive vocals of Radiohead mixed with a Bob Marley message and the international appeal of Sarah Brightman. I dig it!!!!
Check out this promotional video of her performing at SOB’s in NYC.
Please be sure to visit her Myspace page and listen/view her songs and videos. You can now download her free music sampler entitled “Move In Day.” Also, follow her on Twitter (@joyabravo) and let her know we sent you!!
P.S.- Click here to see Joya Bravo go in on the violin to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

When I first saw the McDonald’s commercial, I was like, “who is this bxxch?” But now I know and I really like her! She’s not trying to be different, she’s just being her, and that’s what I like! I love her “A Milli” freestyle on YouTube!
